William (Bill) Edward Wheeler, 94 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  Bill was born on August 5, 1926 in Narrows and was a son of the late Egbert Terrell Wheeler and Ethel Wilburn Wheeler.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Wheeler five brothers, Randal, Perry, Virgil, Robert, Allen Wheeler and two sisters, Georgia Turner, Marie Conley.  Bill was a life-long resident of Narrows, was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving many places including Japan and was a retired employee of the Virginia Lime Company in Gold Bond.  Bill was a life member of American Legion Post #68 and a life member of the VFW Post #6000 both of Narrows. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  He will be remembered as a hard worker and a good man.  He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Lucas Wheeler of Narrows, one son, Thomas E. Wheeler (Barbara) of Floyd, two grandchildren, Crystal Wheeler and Phillip Wheeler, five great grandchildren, Bella Hope Wheeler, Blane Wheeler, Samantha Arnold, Desmon Wheeler, Taylor Jones, three brothers, Curtis Wheeler (Juanita) of Narrows, Harold Wheeler (Judy) of Narrows, Roger Wheeler (Carman) of Trigg and one sister, Shirley Parcell (Roy) of Narrows and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 1pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 – 8 pm.  The family is being served by Givens - Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
