Tonya Ann Openshaw Mullins, 48 of Narrows, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home. Tonya was born on March 27, 1974, in York, PA and was a daughter of Carl Leonard Openshaw, Sr.. and Mary Ann Thomas Messina (Steve). She was preceded in death by one son Avery Jamison Mullins, her grandparents, George Kelley Thomas and Helen Lorine Hayden Lane, one aunt, Dianne Ridell and best friends, J.C. Mullins and Trina Martin. Tonya was a strong-willed, independent woman who always wanted to do things her own way and never asked for help, even though she knew she needed it sometimes but that was the stubborn, hardheaded woman she was. She loved the outdoors, but fishing with her children and grandchildren was her favorite outdoor activity to do besides going to the lake. Her love for dancing and bingo was unmatched against anyone. She loved spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren who she loved dearly. She loved going to Dairy Queen and getting her a caramel moolatte or a pumpkin pie blizzard with extra, extra pie pieces. She loved sitting on her porch with her fur babies Arlo and Brida, watching her cardinals from heaven visit and her hummingbirds that she found fascinating. She was the strongest woman and fighter to everyone she knew and loved. She loved everyone for who they were and would help anybody that needed it. She will be loved and greatly missed, but never forgotten to all that knew her. She is survived by 3 daughters, Natasha A. Mullins of Narrows, Tamra A. Bigelow (Christopher) of Princeton, WV, Kelsea R. Mullins (Destiny) of Narrows, 3 grandchildren, Ayden Jamison Mullins, LeAnndra Aliece Shupe, Christina Jazmine Eva-Marie Bigelow, her best friends in life, Glenn Mullins and Stephen Ryan, one brother, Carl Leonard Openshaw, Jr. of Blacksburg, grandparents, Susie Thomas of Christiansburg and Ed Lane of Kingsport, TN. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 3, 2022, from 6 – 8 pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Home in Narrows. The family request that in honor of Tonya, you wear one of her favorite colors, which are lilac-purple or baby blue. The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
