Shirley Ann (Thomas) Martin

Shirley Ann Thomas Martin, 84, of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021, at her home.  Shirley was born on July 3, 1937, in Spray, NC, (Rockingham County) and was a daughter of the late Joseph Montague Thomas and Zada Barton Thomas.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edison, one sister, Viola and stepmother, Bessie.  Shirley was her husband’s bookkeeper in their construction business for many years.  She had a love of hummingbirds, which she enjoyed watching and feeding and she also loved growing many different types of flowers at her home.  She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond A. “Odie” Martin of Narrows, one sister, Frances Perdue of Patrick County, special nephew, Robert “Wayne” Martin (Angie) of Narrows and numerous other nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted, Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11am at the Givens-Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Tony Robertson officiating with burial following in the Angels Rest Cemetery in Narrows.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service from 10 – 11am.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
