Robert Frank Trent, Sr.

Robert Frank Trent, Sr. 87 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2021.  Frank was born on August 9, 1933 in Wise Co., VA and was a son of the late Richard Cromwell Trent and Arlene Carpenter Trent.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jacqueline Martin Trent and one son, Lloyd Randal Trent.  Frank grew up in a loving family with fifteen siblings in Coeburn, VA.  His father was a coal miner and a circuit Preacher.  He joined the Army at the age of fifteen, serving in Korea where he was awarded the Purple Heart.  Upon returning, he moved to Narrows and retired from the Celanese Corp. in Narrows with 32 years of service.  Frank was a long-time member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows serving many roles.  He was a member of the VFW Post # 6000 and the American Legion in Narrows where he was a long-time member of the Honor Guard and was a member of Intermont Lodge # 269 A.F. & A.M. in Narrows.  He is survived by three children, Marlene T. Martin and husband Eddie, Larry Dean Trent and Savannah, and Robert (Buddy) Trent, Jr. and wife Christina all of Narrows, seven grandchildren, Candace Black, Jessica Stafford, Dustin Trent, McCrae Trent, Lindsey Trent, Grace Trent, Xyander Trent, Skyler Trent, six great-grandchildren, Bentley Gross, Braden, Raylen and Charlotte Trent, Weston Stafford and Maverick Black, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows at 2pm with the Rev. Jim McDaniel officiating with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  The family will receive friends at Givens - Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.  The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); P.O.
