Katherine Lambert Holdren

Katherine Lambert Holdren, 95, of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2022, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek.  Katherine was born on July 9, 1926, in Giles County, VA and was a daughter of the late Albert Henderson Lambert and Annie Andrews Lambert.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Arredus Holdren, Sr., one son, Edwin “Doc” Holdren, Jr. and one grandson, Jeffery Holdren.  Katherine was the oldest member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Wolf Creek.  She was employed for a limited time at the Celanese Plant in Narrows, then worked for Lawrence Transfer in Roanoke, but her primary joy in life was being a housewife and mother.  She loved being a grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren where she was lovingly called “Nanny”.  She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Martin of Roanoke, Nedra Thorn (Gene) of Narrows, seven grandchildren: Michelle Brown, Laura Goorskey, Regina Smith, Martha Foster, Melizza Holdren, Cheryl Cecil, Kristi Ratcliffe and numerous other great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 11am at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Preacher Harold Goins officiating with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity or church of your choice.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8pm.  The family is being served by Givens - Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, VA, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
