John “Johnny” Ingram Hazelwood, Jr. 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2021, at his home. Johnny was born on November 5, 1942, in Rock Camp, WV and was a son of the late John Ingram Hazelwood, Sr. and Virginia Mae Blankenship Hazelwood. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lee Hazelwood and three brothers, Ronald “Ronnie” Hazelwood, Thomas “Corky” Hazelwood and Monty Ray Hazelwood and one sister, Bonnie Mann. Johnny was a 1960 graduate of Peterstown High School, and then attended Bluefield Business College. Johnny was an U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1960 to 1964 serving in Japan. He worked at the Covington Paper Mill and for several years he hauled coal in the coalfields in WV. He attended Mountain View Ministries in Narrows faithfully for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and also loved watching the Cook brothers, who he adored, go to work every day. He is survived by his wife 60 years, Patty Smith Hazelwood of Narrows, one son, Jess Robert Hazelwood (Karen) of Gloucester, two brothers, Ricky Hazelwood, Joe Hazelwood (Linda) all of Lindside, WV, daughter-in-law, Susie Bergsten (Kelvin) of Blacksburg, three grandchildren, Katima Farrow of Richmond, Jessica Roane (Jacob) of Gloucester, Kursten Smith (Kenny) of Gloucester and three great grandchildren, Aiden, Ava and River. Funeral services will be conducted, Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 2pm at the Mountain View Ministries, 215 Hopkins St. Narrows, VA with Dr. Jim W. Hagy, Sr., officiating with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the Church (Mountain View Ministries) two hours before the service from 12 – 2pm.
