Jane Lee (Sheldon) Mitchell

Jane Lee Sheldon Mitchell, 63, of Pearisburg, VA, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.  Jane was born on March 9, 1958, in Richmond, VA and was a daughter of the late Luther Pitzer Sheldon and Nancy Lee Nutter Sheldon.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by infant son, Matthew James Mitchell, two brothers, Wesley Sheldon and Ray Mack Sheldon and her aunt, Louise Croy.  Jane enjoyed most being a loving mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, going fishing, country music, especially George Strait.  She said her greatest gift in life were her three daughters, her five grandchildren, a great granddaughter and the gift of a donated kidney by a total stranger.  She is survived by three daughters, Lori Gardner Charles (Nicholas) of Floyd, Shannon N. Mitchell of Floyd, Heather L. Mitchell of Pearisburg, three brothers, Luther “Pete” Sheldon (Terri) of Beaver Dam, William B. “Billy” Sheldon of Doswell, David Sheldon of Ashland, five grandchildren, Dakota Reed, Tanner Reed, Makenna Reed, Brayden Reed and Brynna Slusher, a great granddaughter, Kinsley Reed, special friend, Malcolm Wolfe of Narrows, her cousin, Anne C. Chambers of Narrows and numerous nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 1pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Kevin Weaver officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel one hour before the service.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, VA, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
