Douglas "Doug" Glen Mullins

Douglas “Doug” Glen Mullins, 72, of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Salem Veterans Hospital.  Doug was born on October 22, 1949, in Princeton, WV and was a son of the late Robia Mullins and Virgie Mae Elliott Mullins.  Doug was a 1968 graduate of Narrows High School and was a United States Air Force and Army National Guard Veteran.  He attended the New River Valley Police Academy and was a police officer with the Giles County Sheriffs Dept. retiring as Chief Deputy.  Doug loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping as well as spending time with his family and friends.  Doug was a member of the American Legion Post #68 and the VFW Post # 6000 in Narrows and a member of Intermont Lodge #269 A.F & AM.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Adams Mullins of Narrows, one daughter, Shelly E. Dirico of Narrows, one son, Chad Aaron Mullins (Kelly) of Richland, MI, four grandchildren, Chelsey Spence (Clay), Glen Dirico, Austin Herbert, Roby Mullins, one great grandson, P.J. Spence, two brothers, Larry Mullins (Vanita), Jeff Mullins (Lisa) both of Narrows and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Jerry Sawyers officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. Military honors will be performed by the  American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday evening from 6 – 8pm.  The family is being served by Givens-Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, VA, (540)726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
