Dorothy Mae (Reed) Meadows

Dorothy Mae Reed Meadows, age 76 went home to be with Jesus Christ her savior on June 26, 2019.  Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.  Dorothy was a faithful member of Woodland Street Baptist Church where she served as a talented pianist for her church family for many years.  Dorothy was a blessing to anyone who had the opportunity to get to know her.  She was small in stature but had a spirit that was as vibrant as a firecracker.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her father "Lum" Reed, and her mother Virginia Reed, her mother-in-law, Rose Mae Meadows.  She is also preceded in death by her siblings Wilma Reed, Ruby Reed, Dickie Reed, Claude Reed, Sylvester Reed, and a grandson Mikey Bowles.  Dorothy is survived by her husband James "Jimbo" Meadows.  Her sons, Dean Thorne (Melissa), Darrin Thorne (Robin), Andy Thorne (Michelle), and Arnie Thorne.  Her daughters, Dorothy Thorne (Punky), Sarita Lindsey (Thomas), Julia Scott (Scotty), siblings, Jesse Reed (Susan), Lula Reed,Deloris Neice, Celia Collins, Carolyn Neice (Ferrell),  eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.   Funeral services will be held Sunday June 30, 2019 at Givens - Riffe Funeral Chapel at 3:00 p.m.  with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  Family will receive guests two hours prior to the service.
