Donna Lee (Stables) Oney

Donna Stables Oney, lovingly known as “Honey”, age 78 of Narrows, died peacefully at her residence Friday, September 18, 2020.  She was born on April 5, 1942 in Giles County, and was the daughter of the late Christine “Cricket” Burton Stables and James O’Keiffe Stables.  She was a former employee of Celanese.  She was a charter member of the New Valley Fellowship Church in Narrows, where she loved her church family.  She was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Narrows and loved being called a Green Wave.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:  Thomas Earl “T.E.” Oney, Jr.:  sister; Margo Thompson: brother; Robert Stables, and a very special friend, Lorine Lambert.  She is survived by her children:  Todd (Lisa) Oney of Narrows, Christina (Kevin) Davis of Narrows, and Pat (Michael) Lawhorn of Salem. Siblings:  Jim Stables, Jr. and Deborah Edmundson.  Grandchildren:  Kelly Davis, Abby (Garret) Blankenship, Alec (Catherine) Frazier, Allen Oney, and Christen Lawhorn.  Bonus grandchildren:  Justin Huskey, Kelly Dent, Jay (Jessica) Galford, Brandi Lawhorn, Kelsey (Kyle) Smith, Kayla Arthur and Anthony Thompson.  Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and “adopted” grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at New Valley Fellowship Church on Roberta Street in Narrows, with Pastor Kevin Weaver officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  The family will receive friends on Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions in her memory to the New Valley Fellowship Church 200 Roberta Street Narrows, Va 24124.  The family is being served by Riffe - Givens Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
