Deborah Jo (Blankenship) Green

Deborah Jo Blankenship Green, 65, of Narrows, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her husband and family.  Debbie was born on September 8, 1958, in Pearisburg, VA and was a daughter of the late Amos Odell Blankenship and Dorothy Jean Wilkinson.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Mitzi Blankenship.

Debbie was a lifelong resident of Narrows and was a 1976 graduate of Narrows High School.  After high school she was employed at Kroger for 18 years, first working in Pearisburg, then moving to the store in Princeton, WV.  After leaving Kroger, she was employed at Narrows Elementary School for 15 years where she touched many lives and made several lifelong friends.  She finished her career, working 4 years at HH Hunt in Blacksburg.  She was a lifelong Christian, devoting her ministry, teaching God’s word to children and using her God given voice to bring joy to others.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lonnie Edward “Opie” Green of Narrows, daughter, Jessica Ryan Green Blankenship (Josh) of Pearisburg, 2 grandchildren, Bailee Blankenship and Bryson Blankenship, 2 brothers, Robbie Odell Blankenship, Keith Willard Blankenship, both of Narrows and 5 nephews, Aaron Green and Paul Green of Rock, WV, Garrett Green and Logan Green both of Narrows and Brandon Blankenship of Narrows, brothers-in-law, Gary “Fred” Green (Lina) of Pearisburg, Dave Green (Michelle) of Narrows, Bob Green (Dawn) of Rock, WV, sisters-in-law, Drema Green (Ty) of Christiansburg, Alice Weddle (Jeff) of Moneta, very special friends, Betty Ann McCroskey (Roger) of Narrows, Dianne Gautier (Bobby) of Narrows, Tom and Linda Hollie of Narrows, Brian Crumley (Michelle) of Narrows, Lynette Lowe (Kelly) of Rich Creek, Jennifer Wills Clark of Narrows, Gary Thompson (Michelle) Rich Creek, Susi Wills (Gary) of Rich Creek and Ashley Armstrong of Narrows

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Tracy Allen and Pastor Ricky Green officiating with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  The family will receive friends at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to a charity of your choice.  The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and aides of Medi Home Hospice for their exceptional and thoughtful care.
