Charles Thomas "Tom" McGinley

Charles Thomas McGinley “Tom”, passed away July 28, 2025 at the age of 90. He was born in Pearisburg, Virginia on October 20, 1934 to Mr. Ernest Everett McGinley and Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth McGinley (maiden name Bunch).

Tom was a beloved brother, father, and grandfather who will always be remembered for his unique personality and his love for trains, carpentry, automobiles, and his dedication to family.

 Tom was an accomplished Civil Engineer who acquired his degree at Georgia Tech. He supervised the development of many bridges, trains, and underground subways, with his biggest accomplishment being the project manager of the MARTA Rail in Atlanta, Georgia. His artistry in carpentry will live forever on in the households of many.

Tom will be deeply missed by his children, Patton, Elizabeth, Michael, and John; his siblings, Patton, Ann, Michael, and Ernest; and his grandchildren, Madison, Maura, Jared, Elizabeth, Liam, Killian, and Michael.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Billie, and sister, Susan.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on October 11, 2025, at 3pm at the Givens - Riffe Celebration Room, Narrows, VA.
