Catherine Ann "Cathy" Elliott went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2014. She was born in Reedsville, Wisconsin and grew up in Janesville. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in English and History. She started a pre-school program in her home from 1972-1978 in Narrows, VA. She had the privilege of teaching in Pulaski and Giles County. She earned her Master's degree in special education from Virginia Tech in 1994. Cathy loved teaching. She always strived to make a difference in each child's life. She taught special education at Dublin Elementary School and then taught in Narrows until she retired in 2004.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Eleanor O'Connell, and brothers Tommy and Jimmy O'Connell, all from Janesville, Wisconsin. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years Bob; her son, Robbie, and wife Mira, grandchild Christina Elliott, of McLean, VA; her daughter, Lori Perkins, husband Robert, grandchildren Nicholas and Alyssa of Glen Allen, VA; daughter Lynn Harris, husband Jon, grandchildren Erin and Kristen of Glen Allen, VA; beloved sister Mary Margaret Hosler of Milton, WI; brother-in-law Ron Elliott of Green Bay, Wi; niece Christina Greetan, husband Tim; niece Niki Elliott all of Green Bay, WI; nephew Brian Elliott, wife, Elizabeth, of Watertown, WI.

Cathy had the opportunity to see her children grow up, marry loving spouses, and establish Christian lifestyles. They brought only joy to her life. Her greatest blessing was to be part of the lives of her five grandchildren. Her greatest sorrow is to not be able to be with them as they grow up. Cathy's greatest joys were her family and her faith in God.

At her request, she was cremated. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Charles Breindel at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pearisburg, VA on Thursday, January 30 at 11:00 am. Family will receive friends an hour before the mass. A celebratory luncheon will follow immediately after mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Giles County Animal Rescue.
