Brenda Diane (Stafford) Atwell

Brenda Diane “Dibby” Stafford Atwell, 70, of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center Salem, VA. Diane was born on June 12, 1951, in Pearisburg, VA and was a daughter of the late Herman Cyrus Stafford and Mozelle Williams Stafford.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Scott Atwell.   Diane was a 1969 graduate of Giles High School where she was a majorette.  She was a hairdresser at the Looking Glass in Narrows for many years.  In her latter years, she retired to take care of her parents.  Diane loved making crafts and painting.  Her humor and bright sprit, over many years, touched everyone whom she encountered.  She is survived by, two sons, Bradley Scott Stafford of Radford, Benjamin Lee Johnston (Shelby) of Iowa, one daughter, Bridget Nicole Hancock (Bishop) of Troutville, five grandchildren, Brandy, Gavin, Sean, Olivia, Elijah and five great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted, Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 2pm at Wesley's United Methodist Church in Trigg, VA (Pearisburg) with Pastor Michael Chase officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to Givens-Riffe Funeral Service to help with the funeral expenses.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
