Betty Jo (Lanning) Ervin

Betty Jo Ervin, age 84, of Stephens City, Virginia, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2022, at her home.  She was surrounded by her son Eric J. Ervin and her daughter Kimberly A. Thornhill.  Mrs. Ervin was born August 11, 1938, in New Straitsville, Perry County, Ohio, daughter of Mary Margaret (Waldie) Lanning and Zernie Lanning.  She graduated with honors from New Straitsville High School.  In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded by her husband, William R. Ervin, Jr., her sister Alice M. McQuade, her grandson Russell E. Ervin.  Surviving are her sons Eric J. Ervin and Clifton E. Ervin, her daughter Kimberly A. (Ervin); her grandchildren Michael Thornhill, Anthony Thornhill, Shawna Thornhill-Gallagher, Emily (Ervin) Wheeler, Samual Peteira, Melissa McKenley, William Ervin and Lauren and Alissa Bartley and her 26 great grandchildren.  Mrs. Ervin requested no funeral services as wished for loved ones to hold on to the precious, good memories of her and know she watches over them from heaven.  The Interment will be private with her son Eric and daughter Kimberly present.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to your local Hospice organization. The family is being served by Givens-Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, VA, (540)726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
