Barbara Ann (Conley) Ratcliff

Barbara Ann Conley Ratcliff, 80 of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home.  Barbara was born on May 11, 1943, in Bland County, VA and was a daughter of the late Arnold Bowman Conley and Stella Mae Patton Conley.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jerry Ray Ratcliff and a daughter, Lisa Dawn Ratcliff.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Narrows High School and attended the National Business College in Roanoke.  She worked as a secretary in the Medical Records department at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, worked for Dr. Les Dunman in Pearisburg until his retirement and then worked at several different departments at the Celanese Corp. in Narrows.  She also worked as a substitute teacher in the Giles County Schools.  She was a lifetime member of the Kathleen Memorial Methodist Church in Narrows.  She also had a passion for going on ship cruises and loved taking care of her animals.   

She is survived by 1 son, Keith J. Ratcliff of Bluefield, WV, 1 daughter, Leslie R. Lucas (Chris) of Narrows, 5 grandchildren, Megan, Jessica, Eddie, Phillip (Kelsey) and Quenton, 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Peyton, 1 sister, Sandy Stowers, of Narrows and 1 brother, Tom Conley (Tracey) of Ponce Inlet, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel at 2pm with the Rev Doug Armstrong and Rev Carl Belcher officiating.  The family will receive friends at the chapel 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm.  The family would like to thank her caregivers, her granddaughter Megan, Carrie Davis and Angie Weatherly and a special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice including Connie, Brittany.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
