Barbara Jean (Ball) Comer

Barbara Jean Ball Comer, born to Eugene and Osby Ball of Narrows, VA, on November 9, 1939, passed away in September 4, 2022, while vacationing with her siblings and their families in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Ann; her husband of 61 years, Paul Comer, Jr.; and her beloved Dalmatian, Molly. 

She was a 1958 graduate of Narrows High School.  Her graduating class was the largest in the history of Giles County at that time.  There were 82 classmates and Barbara’s death leaves 37 classmates to mourn her passing.  She was the class Salutatorian, active in many clubs and activities while loved and deeply respected by her classmates. 

Barbara attended Mary Washington College, the University of Virginia, and Radford College.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in History from Iowa State University in 1984.

Long time residents of Knoxville, TN, Barbara and her husband, Paul, enjoyed traveling and antiquing and were avid college basketball fans. 

Interment is in the Birchlawn Cemetery in Pearisburg, VA.
