Ann (Chapman) Patteson

Ann Chapman Patteson 88, of Narrows, Va. went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2022. Born May 3, 1933, in Covington, VA, she was the oldest daughter of George and Elizabeth Chapman. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years William Bryan Patteson, Jr, and her dear sister Zoe Love. Ann was a loving mother and a very devoted grandmother. There was nothing she would not do for her family. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Emory and Henry College where she met her husband, Bill. She received a Masters of Education from Radford University as well. Ann was retired from Giles County Public Schools where she was a devoted teacher and counselor at Narrows High School. She spent her last years as a counselor at Macy Elementary. Ann loved her students as much as they loved her. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church (DOC) where she founded the First Christian Church Preschool, was the financial secretary, Sunday School teacher, member of Christian Women’s Fellowship and group leader. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Ann is survived by her loving son William Bryan Patteson, III, and Tanya of Narrows, daughters Jane P. Garrett and Tom of Narrows, Judy Pollard and Bill of Charlottesville, Va. Her sisters Lois Barrett and Jim of Roanoke, VA, and Sue Harrell and Phillip of Martinsville, Va. Six adored grandchildren Patrick Bailey and Britney of Narrows, Sarah Sutphin and Bradley of Narrows, Bryan Pollard of California, Henry Pollard of Texas, Will Patteson and Lauren of Narrows, and Ty Patteson and Rachel of Dublin. Her cherished great grandchildren Cooper, Collin, and Carter Sutphin, Logan Steele, and Braxton Carroll. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 2pm at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA with Rev Mike Biggs officiating Flowers are appreciated.
