Velma Kight Stables

Velma Kight Stables, 96 of Johnson City, Tennessee, formerly of Rich Creek, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 6th, 2017.

She was born in Tucker County, West Virginia on September 21st, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Harley Calvin Kight and Nettie Bolyard Kight. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Opie Hampton Stables; a son, Marshall Dale Stables; and a son-in-law, Ronnie Sparks.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Carolyn Sparks Edwards of Roanoke; a son, Douglas Stables of Chester, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Myra U. Stables of Piney Flats, Tennessee; three granddaughters, Kimberly (Dan) Pike of Clemmons, North Carolina; Marianne (Brian) Doane of Piney Flats, Tennessee; and Alissa Stables of Chester, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Kevin McCarthy, Jr., Jack McCarthy, Savannah McCarthy, Morgan Stables, Marissa Doane, and Caleb Doane; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10th, 2017 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Chapel Friday from 10 AM until just prior to the service.
