Leona S. Brookman Martin, 90 of Narrows went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends following a long illness. Mrs. Martin was born in Princeton, WV on June 17, 1928 and was a daughter of the late C.J. and Bessie Brookman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Earnest (Corky) Martin, sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Cedric Frazier, Cecil R. Smith and sister-in-law, Cathrine B. Brookman. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows, was a founding member of the Narrows Business and Professional Association. She was a graduate of Radford High School and the WV Business College in Bluefield, WV. She and her family have owned and operated Narrows Flower and Gift Shop since 1971. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Cynthia Ann Martin Light and husband Leon of Narrows; her beloved grandson, Jonathan Martin Light of Narrows and his girlfriend, Emily Catherine Hawkins; one brother, Don Brookman and wife Pat of Pearisburg, special relative, Betty S. Gullo of TX, special nieces and nephews, Bruce (Heather) Frazier, David (Susan) Brookman, Dan (Kathy) Brookman, Amy (Tim) Ferrell, Joe Brookman, Ruth Brookman, Scott (Teresa) Brookman and many special friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11am at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows with the Rev. Jim McDaniel, Charles Henderson and hospice chaplain, Robbie Vance officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
