Derick Gavin Ratcliffe

Derick Gavin Ratcliffe, 48 of Pearisburg went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 at his home.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on April 17th, 1969 and was the son of Anita Clark Ratcliffe and the late Thomas Gordon Ratcliffe. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Gordon Ratcliffe.

A 1987 Giles High School graduate, Derick enjoyed coon hunting with friends and family in Giles County, and was an active member of the West Virginia Coon Hunters Club. He loved his dogs Butch, Whiskey and Tanner. Enjoyed days at his aunt Tena and uncle Joe's home looking at the mountains. He spent hours at the family cemetery with Timmy Ratcliffe looking for deer and turkey, and enjoyed hunting with Elmer Fleeman. He also loved Jabo Ratcliffe as a brother, worried about him being a state trooper and always prayed for him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Misty Ratcliffe Eads of Dublin; aunts and uncles Tena and Bobby Joe Hughes, Bonnie and Clyde Ratcliff, Frances and Billy Joe Farley, Roger and Brenda Ratcliffe; numerous cousins and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 24th, 2017 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Ratcliffe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
