Margaret (Breedlove) French

Margaret Breedlove French, 90, of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek, VA.  Margaret was born on August 8, 1933, in Russell Co., VA and was a daughter of the late Alden James Breedlove and Lillian Mae Sword Breedlove.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William “Bill” Preston French, 3 brothers, Bill Breedlove, Harold Breedlove, Kenneth Breedlove and 3 sisters, Irene Stump, Ella Mae Fanning and Mary Ann Bird.

Margaret was a 1952 graduate of Narrows High School.  She was a 42 year employee of BB&T, retiring as the Pembroke branch manager.  She was a lifelong lover of her horses, dogs and cats.  Her passions were her family, friends, shopping on QVC, cooking and reading.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joyce Shuler, Lois Johnson, Mary Ellen Greer, Betty Jean Reese, Janet Faulkner, Carol Davis, Loyd Breedlove, Joan Leftwich, Sheila Howdock, Peter French, Randy Ragland, Debbie Spillman and numerous great nieces and nephews and special friends, Bo and Nora Hughes, Tara Sanders, Sonnie Stafford, Eugene “Rawhide” Lambert, Sheila Martin and Sandy Stowers and numerous other special family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 2pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2.  Memorial donations may be made to the Giles County Animal Shelter, 678 Green Hollow Rd., Pearisburg, VA, or St. Jude’s Hospital.  The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall for their care, love and support for Margaret during her stay there.
