Effective January 1, 2015

There are several forms of payment that we ask our client families to review for services, merchandise, and cash advance items to be selected at the time of the at-need arrangements conference, unless a pre-funded preneed contract has already been implemented between the decedent and/or his/her family and our funeral home, or if the funeral home has already been named an assignee of the decedent's life insurance policy.  The preferred forms of at-need payment are:

- A verifiable life insurance assignment
- Personal Check, Certified Check, or Cashier's Check
- Money Order
- Visa and/or MasterCard

For Life Insurance, we require a review of the policy.  The policy must be at least two years old and active.  The amount of available coverage must be sufficient to cover the cost of the services, merchandise and cash advances that we provide. The policy must be assignable by the beneficiary so that payment can be made directly to Riffe's Funeral Service, Inc.  We will provide you with an "Insurance Assignment" form that you include with your claim form and other required paperwork for the insurance company. This assignment form instructs the insurance company to directly pay only the amount of the funeral home's charges, from the insurance policy, to the funeral home.  In addition, we will do our best to assist you in filing your claim(s), if requested.

We are acutely aware that in today's economy, final expenses can be a huge burden, especially for those who are financially unprepared.  Unfortunately, many individuals and families in recent years have taken advantage of our funeral home's generosity, and have failed to pay for services, merchandise, and cash advances sold to them on behalf of their loved ones.

Because of this, Riffe's Funeral  Service, Inc. can no longer allow long-term multiple payments for funeral and cremation services, including facilities, transportation, caskets, vaults, memorial merchandise, or cash advances (obituaries, certified copies of death certificate, grave opening and closing, flowers, and other expenses as requested).  If the family cannot provide a verifiable life insurance policy at the time of the arrangements conference, or is not pre-arranged with our funeral home, the family must now contact a bank, credit union, or loan company of their choosing, to obtain their own financing to pay for the services, merchandise and cash advances requested for their loved one. In addition, out of state purchasers may be required to pay in full at the time of the arrangements conference, or have a local resident sign the Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected and be responsible for all costs incurred.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We want you to feel clear and comfortable with what you have chosen, along with the financial obligation that comes with these choices.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to drop us a line or call.  We deeply appreciate your understanding.
